Christophe Ferrari

Biography

Born in 1969 in La Mure, Christophe FERRARI was raised in the Grenoble metropolitan area. After studying environmental chemistry, he finished his PhD in 1995. He has been working as a scientist at the Grenoble glaciology laboratory since 1996 and in 2004, he also became Professor at the Engineering School of Grenoble University and junior member of the « Institut Universitaire de France ».
Christophe Ferrari was elected Mayor of the town of Le-Pont-de-Claix in 2008.
Reelected in 2014, in the same year he became President of the Grenoble Metropolitan Area, « Grenoble-Alpes Métropole », which represents among 450 000 inhabitants of 49 different towns. Today, the Grenoble Metropolitain area is the principal local authority for all smart city subjects: transport, energy, urban development and economic development. Grenoble-Alpes Metropole is, according to Christophe Ferrari, « the place where energy transition and the city of tomorrow will be constructed ».
