Robert joined the commercialization department of CEA Tech in 2015. His role is two-fold : firstly, to assist CEA Tech’s Institute and Lab directors commercialize CEA research and develop industrial partnerships by identifying promising applications and market opportunities and then look to validate unique value propositions for CEA technology through discussion with the appropriate industry players. This commercialization role extends to accompanying early-stage CEA Tech startups as they seek to develop their strategy and create a viable business plan. The second role is to help CEA Tech leadership in technology and strategic planning activities involving market and technology foresighting, benchmarking and technology roadmapping.
Prior to joining CEA, Robert worked for SRI International (the former Stanford Research Institute) and its consulting spin-off Strategic Business Insights, assisting primarily large, multinational companies with strategic marketing and technology planning. His career began in the telecom (fiber optics) business with the UK’s General Electric Company, where he worked in manufacturing process control. Robert holds a physics degree and a PhD, respectively from the University of Oxford and Imperial College, London, and a certificate in finance from the Grenoble Ecole de Management.
