Dan Metcalfe is the Communications and Community Director at Harwell Campus in Oxfordshire – the UK’s leading science and innovation campus. He leads on external affairs, promoting the work of the campus to a range of audiences and supporting the Harwellian community to connect and grow. He also runs communications for the Advanced Research Clusters group, a new network of science campuses including Harwell, founded in May 2022.
He has over 20 years experience in science communications, campaigning and behavioural science and has held senior roles in the Wellcome Trust, the UK Cabinet Office and Cancer Research UK. His track record includes leading award-winning campaigns and communications research in public health, global health policy and innovation.
Dan is an advocate for evidence-based design, change and impact in innovation policy and placemaking. He holds an MSc in Behavioural Science from the London School of Economics and a BA in Anthropology from Durham University. He is a board member of the ‘Discovery Decade’ project, which seeks to connect R&D with new public audiences.
