Patrick Bressler

Dr. Patrick Bressler is the managing director of the Fraunhofer Microelectronics Group since July 2018. The group consists of 11 Fraunhofer Institutes conducting applied research and development in micro- and nanoelectronics and constitutes the backbone of the Research Fab Microelectronics Germany (FMD). Patrick’s responsibilities include developing the strategic agenda, fostering research collaborations and innovation partnerships with academia and industry, as well as advancing Fraunhofer participation in European R&D Programmes.Prior to that Dr. Bressler held the position of the Executive Vice President of Fraunhofer USA, in charge of operations at the seven Fraunhofer R&D centers in the USA from 2015 to 2018.From 2010 to 2014 Patrick was the director of the Fraunhofer Office in Brussels, Belgium. Tasks included managing joint-projects in applied research, networking and advising EU stakeholders on science and innovation policies, in particular, on technology validation and key enabling technologies. Patrick served as the chairman of the Materials Science and Engineering Expert Committee of the European Science Foundation (MatSEEC) from 2012 to 2015. Patrick is a trained physicist and holds a PhD in semiconductor and surface physics.
