Pierre-Joseph Givre

Graduated from Saint Cyr military academy and from war college, Lieutenant General Pierre-Joseph GIVRE holds also a degree in political science. As a mountain and cold weather warfare expert, he spent most of his career in the Alps as the commander of the 27th Mountain Infantry Battalion (2009-2011) and of the 27th Mountain Infantry Brigade (2018-2020) based in Grenoble. He was also deployed in operations in the Balkans, Djibuti, Afghanistan, Irak and in Mali as MINUSMA (UN) Force Chief of Staff. As the former head of the Army think tank, he was a privileged observer of the Ukraine and Middle East wars. Since 2023, he has been the director of the National Service and Youth agency at the Ministry of Defense with the task to build a new relationship between the armed forces and the youth in the light of the new European strategic landscape.
