Shimpei is currently in charge of advanced fuel cell system development in Toyota’s Higashifuji Technical Center located at the foot of Mt. Fuji 100km west of Tokyo, Japan.
After graduating from Engineering Faculty of Tokyo University, he started working for diesel engine combustion development in Toyota. Then he moved to development of automotive fuel cell system in 1999. Hydrogen and high voltage safety, vehicle testing and fuel cell vehicle deployment in Los Angeles USA, planning and administration of fuel cell system development and collaboration with other auto OEMs were his main experience. He is collaborating with University of Tsukuba Hospital for medical application of fuel cell buses utilizing its electricity.
