Mr. Yasunori Kimura is now Supervisory Innovation Coordinator at Artificial Intelligence Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and Principal Fellow at Center for Research and Development Strategy (CRDS), Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
He joined Fujitsu Limited in 1981. Since then throughout his career, he has been engaged primarily in computer system design and development. Some of the projects he contributed to include: the development of parallel inference machines that were used in the Japanese fifth generation computer systems and the ‘KEI’ supercomputer that was developed under the supervision of RIKEN and the Ministry of Education, Japan.
He got transferred to Fujitsu Laboratories of America in California in 2009, and in 2011, was appointed as President and CEO.
He returned to Japan in 2015, and became Fellow at Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd (FLL). He was also appointed as Principal Fellow at CRDS/JST in 2017. He finally left Fujitsu in 2019, and was appointed as Supervisory Innovation Coordinator at AIST in the same year.
He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Tokyo.
