High Level Forum
2020 Edition

The theme of the HIGH LEVEL FORUM 2020 was: LEADING INNOVATION ECOSYSTEMS

Considering the current health crisis and the recent developments on travel restrictions across Europe and the World, the Grenoble Senior Level Group of the HLF has decided to postpone the 2020 summit until autumn 2021.

This decision has been taken as an opportunity to create a differentiated digital event with innovative and valuable content to encourage more global participation within the HLF network. Therefore, the postponed summit was replaced by the first HLF Connect briefing hosted online from Grenoble on Dec 1st, during which Innovation Ecosystems of the HLF discussed three critical issues of our time :

  • Innovation ecosystem resilience: Impacts in the short to long term
  • New collaborations and alliances; strategies for integrative innovation
  • Winning innovations in the time of Covid and beyond
  • An awarded-startup Show & Contest and highlights from HLF ecosystems punctuated this one-day HLF event.

Startups Show & Contest

Ten award-winning startups from various HLF ecosystems were competing for threes “Startups Show & Contest” awards. In a film, each Startup presents itself as well as how it connects with its own ecosystem and describes the short- to long-term future of its product or service in the post crisis context. The competition was followed by a roundtable that examined how the beyond-crisis models of innovation ecosystems will have an impact on the start-up world. The debate also explored to what extent both private and public actors consider start-ups as key-players in the global economy and their strategies to support them. The three honorees – two awards in the Innovation ecosystem category and one award in the beyond crisis category – have been elected by an international jury bringing together the HLF Steering Commity members.
